Drivers in Illinois run the risk of becoming involved in an accident every time they hit the road. Just before 6 a.m. the morning of Sept. 15, two cars were approaching each other on Floraville Road near Loehr Road. For reasons unknown, the vehicles collided head-on, and they were described as a Ford Escape and a Hyundai Elantra. As they were sitting in the roadway, another Ford Escape came along and smashed into the wrecked vehicles.
A 71-year-old woman inside the first Escape was killed at the scene. The driver of the Elantra was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The driver of the other Escape received medical treatment at the scene.
